Empirical analysis of behavior in the loss domain

Since decades, distribution of money has been highly relevant in society. Besides the distribution of gains, losses are an important aspect in economics and in real-life. Every human being is confronted with losses, e.g. within a household costs have to be split or companies who cooperate have to allocate their losses and costs. Experimental game theory gives an approach to investigate the question of how to split losses in strategic decision-making situations. The project is motivated by the prospect theory. This theory indicates a different behavior between the loss domain and the gains domain. Moreover, psychological and sociological methods help to investigate the question and gives insights about the factors, e.g. fairness norms that affects these decisions. This project examine human decision-making process and their major influence factors in the loss domain.

This project is partly funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, VO 1677/4-1)
